Job Function and Key Duties & Responsibilities The ideal candidate will become a part of a team responsible for developing enterprise Java applications and common software components. This person should be able to exhibit highly disciplined software development practices including well-documented code, comprehensive testing scenarios, and be a team player. The candidate must be senior level J2EE developer with at least 7 years of Java and 2 years of .Net experience who is comfortable with learning new things and can shift between various tasks.
 
The primary responsibility is application development (design, code, test, and support) of quality enterprise Java and .Net. Additional duties may include participating in the research and development of new technologies and proposing new ideas.

  1. Enterprise Software Architect Consultant
Contract to Hire
Location: New York City
Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm
 
Duties/Activities:
The Enterprise Software Architect is responsible for driving enterprise level Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) projects as part of Legacy Modernization. The individual in this position will participate in strategic planning and development of enterprise architecture. The individual in this position is an expert in all aspects of designing and constructing application systems and in developing requirements and design specifications for new and existing applications. The individual in this position serves as technical leader in the integration of solutions, construction of applications, development of new business opportunities, and building of relationships with clients. The individual will also work closely with the functional IT teams delivering solutions to global, complex business requirements. This will be achieved by partnering with business users and other Enterprise IT teams, delivering solutions for immediate cost-benefits and process improvements, understanding critical information needs, and identification of opportunities to improve current process and quality of data.
Drive requirements, selection, implementation, and maintenance of an SOA architectural environment.
Serve as technical leader for enterprise SOA projects and initiatives.
•              Ability to use best practices and architectural design patterns within reason. Use proven technologies and reusable library frameworks
•              Provide technical support to operational IT teams, providing SOA solutions to identified business applications.
•              Working with the Data Architect and ESB Application Architect, define an enterprise SOA architectural blueprint, which is intended to support mission-critical applications through an SOA based architecture.
•              Develop and execute SOA capacity plans, operational processes, policies, and procedures and ensure compliance to documented IT standards, ensuring sustainable performance of systems.
•              Strong knowledge in implementing SOA Governance
 
Required Skills:
•              10 or more years of IT industry experience consists of 4 or more years of strong Java/J2EE experience with exceptional design/architecture experience.
•              5+ years hands-on experience developing SOA solutions
•              1-3 years of experience as an SOA Architect or similar position
•              Experience in SOA based technologies provided by vendors such as IBM, BEA, Microsoft, Progress, TIBCO
•              Experience with ESBs (Enterprise Service Bus) and Service Governance Tools and UDDI Registries like Systinet or Infravio
•              Strong Architecture skills with an understanding and/or development experience in Web Services, XML, SOAP, UDDI, J2EE, .Net, WS-Security, ITIL processes, SOA Governance, Web Services Management tools, and Object Oriented Programming
•              Experience in middleware, messaging and EAI technologies, JMS, MQ Series, Websphere Message Broker, EJB, JNDI, RMI, CORBA.
•              Working knowledge in object-oriented analysis & design, design patterns, UML, Component based development, OS concepts, threads, data structures, inter-networking, RDBMS and SQL
•              Working knowledge in web application technologies - Java Servlets, JSP, Taglib-JSTL, JSF, JSR168, HTML, AJAX.
•              Knowledge in frameworks like Struts, Velocity, Cocoon, Hibernate, Spring, log4j etc.
•              Desired skills in Security protocols, Java Cryptography, JAAS, SSL, WS-Security.
•              Experience in ORACLE, Sybase or SQL Server.
•              Experience in tools including, RSA, Rational Requisite Pro, Rose, MS Visio, MS Project.
•              Familiarity with Microsoft .Net technologies and Mainframe Integration Technologies is a plus.

  1. Network Systems Administrator
Working on a small, growing team that manages all aspects of systems - from user support to servers, databases and networks - our network systems administrators fortify the department on a variety of levels, providing after-hours coverage and first level support, including user support.
 
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in computer science from a top university and a strong knowledge of Windows 2003/XP and Unix (Linux/BSD). Other requirements include experience administering email systems, backup software, firewalls, routers and databases (specifically, Microsoft SQL Server), and 3 or more years of experience in architecting and supporting a highly reliable, scalable and cost-effective heterogeneous network of computers and related communications equipment. Some programming experience (C and Java) is required, along with knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl and Bourne Shell.
