New NYC Position: Sr. Network Engineer–CCIE

Senior Network Engineer

Job Function and Key Duties & Responsibilities:

·        Analyze and assess structure and behavior of existing network systems, including interior and exterior routing, communications links, QoS, multicast, traffic shaping, tag switching, traffic compression and other core network matters.

·        Provide architectural guidance in connection with the engineering and deployment of new network solutions.

·        Lead the development of architectural policy and guidelines relating to all aspects of network systems. Provide third level support in connection with the resolution of major network failures. Provide support in the effort to maintain 100% accurate network documentation.

·        Maintain deep knowledge of technology capabilities and product roadmaps of major network vendors, specifically Cisco, F5, Checkpoint, Ironport (now Cisco), and others

·        Using appropriate management, monitoring and analysis tools, provide technical examination of structure, performance and operation of individual network components, sub-networks or sub-systems as required.

·        Develop engineering plans for the deployment of specific data communications solutions, including their management, consistent with the overall strategic architecture. Conduct studies and evaluations of candidate new network infrastructure products and solutions, and feature enhancements and upgrades of existing products. Conduct proof of concept (POC) testing of candidate deployment configurations of engineered solutions in a test lab and/or model environment.

·        Provide consulting assistance to company’s Services Delivery (SD) organization during the deployment and production turnover phase of engineered solutions. Provide consulting assistance to company’s Enterprise Services Management (ESM) organization in connection with the implementation of new network management capabilities associated with the deployment of new network infrastructure systems, features or technologies.

·        Required Qualifications      WAN, Cisco CCIE (alternatively, CCNP/CCDP with extensive, 15+ years experience)

·        Thorough understanding of interior and exterior routing and switching protocols, DNS, protocol proxy, security protocols (IPSec, SSL, etc.), time protocols (e.g. NTP), tag and label switching, real-time protocols for voice (Skinny, SIP, H.323, MGCP), etc. Thorough understanding of WAN communications protocols including MPLS, DWDM, OC carrier, BRI/PRI.

·        Understanding of data security at layers 2 through 7. Understanding of remote access technologies including VPN and dial-up. Understanding of wireless technologies, protocols and security mechanisms. Manage multiple task assignments. Multi-task effectively and possess good organizational skills. Work as a team member effectively and provide feedback. Develop, document and manage structured plans and processes.

·        Minimum of 7 years of network infrastructure experience as a CCIE (preferred)

·        Minimum of 15 years of network engineering/design experience as a CCDP or CCNP (as alt to CCIE)

Technical Lead

Technical Leads are a key leader member of the project team. Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience developing database-driven, web applications in Java and RIA technologies
  • Experience creating estimates of implementation as well as project timelines
  • Strong Object Oriented Design and experience developing high-performance systems and web sites (caching, performance, messaging, serialization, etc)
  • Strong understanding of the systems development life cycle and deep understanding of code manipulation and optimization issues
  • Experience in leading a team of developers and mentoring team members
  • Hands on experience of working on Linux/Unix environments
  • Hands on experience in open source technologies like Apache HTTPD, Tomcat, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc and developing applications in a J2EE environment
  • Experience with open source RIA web development toolkits and frameworks such as Flex, Prototype, Scriptaculous, Dojo, etc.
  • Knowledge of RDBMS database design and performing data extractions, conversions and manipulations.  Worked with at least one of the following: Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and technical decisions
